Smiling in Spite of My Ankle

I’ve already done a fair amount of moping around during my 4-6 week layoff from running due to my dodgy ankles. I’ve been doing a decent amount of limping, too, thanks to this behemoth of a brace that severely limits the mobility of my right leg:

Despite being majorly bummed out about having to give up running for at least a month, I’ve been trying to focus on the things that make me smile. Here’s a random sample from the past week:

A new running club singlet

The other one I have (seen here) was a leftover from an old batch and a women’s XL… good for wearing over hoodies in the winter, but way too big otherwise. The club sent a new order so now I have one in my size, and one that matches all the other current Shammies – huzzah!

Running store outlet shopping!

Unfortunately New Balance shoes don’t fit too well on my feet, and all the cool gear I liked was only in XL or XXL, so I left without any new kit. Drew, on the other hand…

    • Nice, those are 3 things that make me smile, too! ๐Ÿ™‚ The sunshine especially – it’s been a loooong winter. I’ve been thinking of trying the butternut squash bake recipe you posted a few days ago… it looked so yummy!

      • Ooo do try it…it was lovely, although I would recommend it if you like sweet/savoury combinations. The butternut squash makes for a sweet flavour opposite to the meat. I think it’s great but I love butternut squash and sweet potato whereas they can be too sweet for some.
Let me know how it goes ๐Ÿ™‚

    • It was the Deluxe Town Diner! We used to live right down the street and would go there all the time, we love it! We moved 2 years ago and have only been back once or twice, so now it’s an extra exciting outing to go there ๐Ÿ™‚

Considering Watertown is so small, I’m amazed at how many people I run into who’ve lived there too! It was a great place to live… I miss it.
