T-Minus One Week

Happy Monday! Can you believe there’s only a week left of January?! I honestly have no idea where time is going anymore. However, that also means we’re hurtling faster toward spring, so I can’t complain 🙂

One week until February also means only one week until GetFit starts! My team is assembled, I have my training plan at the ready, and I am itching to get started.

As I wrote in my last post, GetFit is a 12-week fitness challenge, with increasing goals for minutes exercised every week. So, for the next 3 months, I will be getting my wanting-to-be-hibernating lazy buns in gear for (at least) the following chunks of time:

  • Week 1 — 150 minutes (about 22 minutes per day)
  • Week 2 — 165 minutes
  • Week 3 — 180 minutes
  • Week 4 — 195 minutes
  • Week 5 — 210 minutes
  • Week 6 — 225 minutes
  • Week 7 — 225 minutes
  • Week 8 — 245 minutes
  • Week 9 — 260 minutes
  • Week 10 — 280 minutes
  • Week 11 — 300 minutes
  • Week 12 — 300 minutes (about 43 minutes per day)

I also had a brainstorm to wear Simon for the entirety of the program (in addition to a GPS watch, it’s also a step counter) to see how my daily step count changes as the weeks go by. Whether I’ll actually do that remains to be seen, but the opportunity to possibly make a graph gets my inner nerd pretty stoked, so we’ll see.

How was your weekend? Were you affected by the Jonas storm at all?
We only got a few inches where I live. Fingers crossed the rest of our winter is this easy!

Do you track your steps?

  1. We got a whopping 3″ of snow up here, so all is normal. I used to track my steps, but I lost my FitBit some time in November and I’m too cheap to replace it. Funnily enough, even though my Garmin is a more advanced model, it doesn’t count steps. Oh well!

    • Eh, who needs step counting when you’re training for a marathon? 😉 I haven’t made much use of that feature on my Garmin so I’m figuring I might as well give it a go.

    • Haha, that’s usually what my Garmin is for… beeping at me to move my lazy butt, but I usually just yell at it and ignore it. This will be an experiment to see if I can be better 🙂

  2. Wearing Simon sounds like a good plan. Your idea has me thinking that maybe l should dig out my Fitbit.
I’m going to be a copy cat this week and aim for the 150min, too. We’ll see how it goes!
